Are you missing multiple teeth? If you are, you’ve likely considered replacing them. You may be uncertain which option is the correct one for you or feel concerned about the costs involved. Dentures, available at Dandenong Dental Care, are an affordable way to restore your self-esteem. They don’t just help you feel good-dentures also give you back the ability to eat the foods you love and speak confidently.

What Is a Denture?

A denture is a custom-created appliance that replaces your teeth. Thanks to advances in the dental industry, the dentures of today are comfortable and natural-looking. They can be fabricated in different materials depending on your situation and your budget.

The Three Types of Dentures

There are three separate options for those who require dentures: removable, implant-supported and partial dentures. You can read more about each of these denture solutions below.

  • Removable: The classic denture option, these involve the replacement of the upper arch of teeth and the lower arch. They can be taken out for cleaning at night while you sleep.
  • Implant-supported: These dentures are secured to an implant for an extremely stable feel. They’ll feel and act like natural teeth.
  • Partial: If you still have some of your teeth left, you may only require a partial denture to replace some teeth. This denture is affixed to natural teeth with a metal frame.

What to Expect

After we have determined that a denture is the most suitable way to move forward, we’ll discuss which type is most appropriate for your situation. Once we have decided, we can take the necessary impressions and gather the information needed. The laboratory will then custom-make your denture for you and send it back to our practice. You’ll return for a follow-up where we’ll fit the denture for you.

Please note that it may take a few weeks for you to get used to the feel of new dentures. You’ll have to spend some time practicing speaking and eating. We’ll advise you on how long we believe it will take, and if you’re dissatisfied with them after that period, we will be happy to re-evaluate you.
